Shifting Sands

“The Only Source of Knowledge is Experience.” Albert Einstein

A great many changes have come to pass, here in the beginning phase of autumn. But, this is to be remembered as the time for change, the beginning of the harvest; collecting the hard labors of the spring and summer. I too am traveling about the great sphere of changes, as abrupt as they might be, they exist nonetheless.

It was just over a year ago that I moved from my Mississippi home to the state of Colorado; a place that offered me a change and a chance, though the stars weren’t exactly in my favor then. Even with as many attempts that I made, no fruit could be harvested then. But soon, as it always happens, another door opened and this time it led me to New York state. A place I’d thought little about and never would’ve imagined living in. But this place offered me peace of mind, solitude and sanctuary. I was able to accomplish a dream that I’d longed to see through to fruition, and for that I give thanks, as it was a good harvest of a year’s work.

Now my road has led me back to my roots once again. Here, among the yellow pine and humid air I sit again in my Mississippi home, pondering the past year and all of it’s mystery. I am pleased as I do, for if anyone ever doubts the present path or their footsteps of past travel, they only hold doubt in themselves. For me, my path is clear and I’m right where I need to be, as I’ve always been all the while.

We must all welcome and embrace the changes in our lives, no matter how dire or sudden they may seem at the time. These changes are to be expected, as change itself is the only constant of the universe. It is the driving force of creation, it is what shapes experience; it is the father of wisdom and the ancestor of knowledge.

In an ever changing world, like shifting sands, with ever changing people, ideas, landscapes and thoughts, we should always allow whatever magic that change brings our way. We must see through our own self and above our petty needs. We must welcome the winds of change as they blow about this great sphere. It must be remembered; change will continue to shape and nurture the experience of all lives, welcomed or not.

Be satisfied with life as it evolves, as you experience. We are part of this sphere, shaped by the hands of change.

    1. Well, one thing I’ve learned for sure is that no move I make is ever really “permanent.” At this point in time I’ve lived all over the U.S.. All three coasts and in various places in between. I would prefer to live in NYC, but for now my place is here, home around family.
