A Creative Life

“In a time of destruction, create something.”
Maxine Hong Kingston

Creation…

The word itself is more much than just a combination of random letters. It evokes a spark of the human spirit. It is the hot ember of the fire that we all carry with us.

From creation we are all born, and it is by creation that we all live. We are innately creative beings, as it is our birthright.

The artist knows this, as does the writer, as does the actor and the dancer and the musician. But it lives within the souls of all men, this spark of life that will not be vanquished.

To create is to live.

It lives among our keyboards as we type, in the lining of our threads even as the seamstress stitches our clothes.

It resides with us as we look upon our world, as we watch the rising sun and feel the cool wind of late fall sweeping down.

It moves with us as we move, as we grow, change and age. And it looks over us as we grow old.

I’ll also imagine that it walks with us as we leave this earth.

Create today..

Leave your mark to make this world better.

Live for life’s essence.

For to create, is to love.

  1. Every moment we create without knowing – “to live is to create” – all the more better to make a choice for our creations to be genuine and to be of our own true essence.. what we are “about” and made of. This struck all the right places in my mind.

  2. Really a beautiful description of what it means to create. I loved the idea that creativity will walk “with us as we leave this earth.” Something comforting about that.
